A recipe for Success on YouTube by Google and English Heritage

To create more relevance, consistency and global popularity for English Heritage, we partnered with YouTube to create episodic content based on the 1800s. This included a period-inspired cooking show and historical beauty-tip series.

As a result of Google’s powerful analytic tools helping us to hone and target our content, our subscribers grew from 1000 to 600K+ in just over three years. By the end of 2018 our YouTube episodes had received over 15.3 million views, meaning more people viewed our videos than visited our heritage landmarks.

Our successful recipe of bygone era re-creations fused with modern trends has rejuvenated our YouTube channel and our charity.

With more innovative and fun historical ‘how-to’ shows planned in the future, our YouTube platform has transformed us into a successful video publisher and fund raiser.
