David Wilding

Director of Planning, Twitter UK

As Director of Planning at Twitter UK my role is to help to inspire and enable planners and clients to get the most out of a product I adore by advising them on how to embed Twitter into their marketing and communication strategies.

I’ve recently joined Twitter from PHD where I spent 5 fantastic years as Head of Planning, overseeing PHD’s planning product on brands such as Sainsbury’s, Warner Bros, Mondelez, YouTube and the BHF.

Happily my time at PHD coincided with the agency being recognised as Agency of the Year by Campaign, Media Week and Marketing magazines while our work was recognised with several awards including the Grand Prix at the 2013 Campaign Media Awards for overall body of work, Grand Prix at the Thinkbox TV Planning Awards for the BHF and two Gold Lions at Cannes, the Mediaweek Awards Grand Prix and Campaign's Campaign of the Year in 2014 for our work creating the world's first Lego ad break, celebrating the launch of The Lego Movie for Warner Bros.

Before joining PHD I spent 8 years at Mindshare, with highlights including working on the successful launch of Run London for Nike, creating an evening editiion of Metro for Nike’s ‘Run London Goes Nocturnal’ campaign, planning Nike’s Joga Bonito World Cup campaign, helping create Britain’s Biggest Break for KitKat and developing a passion for content marketing while working on ITV.

And - going back a bit now - I started my career at Zenith Media working on brands including Kraft, Halifax and BT.

I’m Module editor for the IPA’s Excellence Diploma and sit on the APG committee and have been fortunate enough to be included in Campaign’s annual list of Top 10 Media Planners for 4 consecutive years.

I live on the South Coast, have 3 amazing children but am burdened by a reliance on Southwest trains and hereditary affiliation with Wolverhampton Wanderers both of which you can occasionally finding me grumbling about on Twitter (@drwilding)
