Chief Commercial Officer, Global

 

Mike Gordon was appointed Chief Commercial Officer in 2014 after joining Global as Managing Director of Commercial in 2008.

During that time, Global has evolved from a commercial radio company with a handful of radio stations to become one of the world’s leading media & entertainment groups. Global now has a portfolio of some of the most respected media brands including the UK’s four biggest commercial radio brands and is one of the leading Outdoor companies in both the UK & Europe.

Mike is responsible for all commercial revenue. He has built a team of 600 people working at 25 broadcast centres and offices around the UK as well as setting up offices in France and Germany. He has transformed the way brands and agencies access radio advertising fuelling growth across the commercial radio sector. Mike has brokered long-term partnerships with some of the world’s biggest brands including Coca-Cola, McDonalds, eBay and Vodafone, as well as developing ground-breaking advertising products. Under Mike’s leadership, Global’s commercial division is consistently recognised as best in class, winning all the major media awards year after year.

At the start of 2017, Mike established a new commercial team following a series of festival acquisitions in the UK that have made Global the UK’s second biggest festival operator in just two years.

In 2014, Mike led the team that conceived and launched DAX, the pioneering digital audio advertising platform, enabling brands to access the digital audio market at scale for the first time. DAX is now the world’s most sophisticated programmatic audio exchange. This has created a new revenue stream for Global and 180 other digital audio publishers. Before joining Global, he was Deputy Managing Director of News Group Newspapers and
News International. His previous media positions include Commercial Director of Times Newspapers and Managing Director of Virtual Internet, a European internet business solutions provider.
